We offer a range of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes and types for both adults and kids.
What to expect from a typical class
1. Warm up
Every sessions starts will a good warmup to get the blood going, with light running and stretches, and jiu jitsu movements such as shrimping, break falls and rolls.
2. Technique and drilling
Our coach will slowly demonstrate a set of techniques, and then you’ll work with a partner to slowly drill them to perfection.
3. Sparring
We then spar with our training partners to put learnt techniques to the test. Sparring is optional and be done slowly or at a faster pace, depending on your ability and fitness levels.
4. Warm down
At the end of your class as well as light stretching we often practice breathing and meditation techniques to kick-start the recovery process.
Gi Classes
The gi, consisting of a jacket and pants, introduces a unique dimension to BJJ training. It allows practitioners to utilise the fabric for grips, chokes, and control techniques, creating a dynamic and strategic grappling experience. Both gi and no-gi training styles provide valuable skills for BJJ practitioners, each offering distinct challenges and techniques that contribute to a well-rounded understanding of the art.
No-Gi Classes
A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) no-gi class offers practitioners a dynamic and fast-paced training experience distinct from traditional gi training. In a no-gi class, participants train without the traditional uniform, focusing on grappling techniques that rely on body control, transitions, and submission holds without the aid of fabric grips. This style emphasizes adaptability, speed, and fluidity, as practitioners must rely more on their physical attributes and technical prowess.
