Just some shorts or jogging bottoms, a t-shirt or gym top, some water and... yourself! We have a range of fresh spare Gi tops for you to use if trialing a Gi class. If you wish to get involved in some light sparring at the end of the class you can bring a gum shield if you have one, but this is not mandatory for beginners on trial classes.

If you're curious about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a trial class is the perfect way to introduce you to the sport and martial art. You'll also have the opportunity to meet many of the clubs members and our head coach Chris and get a good taste for his coaching style and ability.
First we all line up in belt order, bow, and begin our warm up routine which consists of light jogging and jiu jitsu specific warm up drills, all of which are easy to perform for beginners. This makes up about 20% of the class. After the warmup, our coach begins demonstrating a handful of technique's we've been working on that week. Questions are asked and answered, and then we pair up and slowly drill the tecniques. This makes up about 50-60% of the class. Then, we finish the class with sparring, where we can put techniques to the test. This makes up 20-30% of the class, however we sometimes finish with a warm down of stretching or breathing techniques. We then line up and finish the sessions with a bow and a handshaking our training partners.
